Prenatal Classes
Birthing into Bliss brings together evidence-based information to help you make the best decisions for you and your growing family in a fun and dynamic learning environment. The more you know about what is possible, the better you will be able to make informed choices for you and your baby – and everyone deserves that!
What will we cover?
- the stages of labour
- when to go to the hospital or page your midwife
- how to time contractions
- learn comfort measures that work
- practice massage, positions for labour/birth, explore vocalization and visualization (and more!)
- acupressure for labour and birth
- how to support the birthing woman and build your team
- making a birth plan
- medical pain coping options, including epidurals
- postpartum recovery (emotional and physical)
- how to care for a newborn (diapering, knowing when they are ill, communication, normal newborn appearance, bathing)
- breastfeeding (everything from how to get started, how to know they are getting enough, and overcoming breastfeeding challenges to pumping and storing milk and who to contact when you need help)
- informed choice practices to help you communicate with your team
- nutrition for pregnancy and breastfeeding
You will also receive:
- an extensive handout package filled with resources and references about the class material and beyond
- the complete Healthy Pregnancy and Happy Birth programs by our friends Circle + Bloom. This is a mind-body visualization program that will help you prepare mentally for birth long after the class is over.
Join us for a 4 week series to:
- Discover what it is like to let go of the fear and self-doubt to birthing and parenting with confidence
- Make the move from feeling alone and overwhelmed to being connected to your community resources and other parents
- Learn about what to expect in labour and tryout techniques to help make you more comfortable
- Bring your partner into a support role at a comfortable pace, without having to read a birth book, and build your support team for birth and beyond
- Practice skills in caring for your newborn baby
- Be prepared for breastfeeding successfully (and knowing who to talk to when you need some help)
- Develop strong communication skills to help you advocate for yourself and your baby
